Dream - June 73

1- I was in hotel room with single bed, against one wall. (Hotel or whatever room was sort of dingy) Pressed some switch accidentally and the floor started opening. While it was opening I thought it might have a pool underneath. Also was scared when it opened part-way (very mechanical looking with big metal pins coming out of the edge to fit into the wall.) I managed to stop it opening, partway open. Looking up were people from the floor below. I was still slightly scared.

2- Several scenes in dim, English style hotel reception room with an English sweet and tobacco counter at rear of room, the tobacco counter was always to my left. I vaguely remember - man complaining about prices and saying that he paid 20 for something he paid 5 for before (cents or pence, some small denomination.) (Bar of colored jelly like Turkish Delight)

3- Next very open landscape, sunny. Seeing a man hitting cliff (grey and high) with large hammer or rod in hopes of shattering it in one particular place. Also little regard for danger of rock falling on his head. He succeeds, rocks fall in sort of 'V' in the cliff. He isn't hit at first and then he decides he doesn't want to be hit and starts running (either the land doesn't run at right angles to the cliff, or he's running down a pile of rubble from the cliff) He's getting away from rocks when water comes through 'V' in cliff.

(I'm not there, but watching it. At the moment.)

I, watching, wonder why he didn't run earlier, because I knew that he knew the water would come. He's overtaken by the great rush of water and disappears under the water. Visually I'm at a fixed point, following with sight the river made by this water as it goes over grey, dusty land and vees off (branches off).

4- Different but continuous. Shift of scene, but continuous. Eyes now, my body is in this. I - in body - am watching, still following course of river. Now scenery is green, river goes round bend, this is English countryside. Only one branch of river in sight. I see, far down river, man trying to get out, finally clambers up steep bank and starts walking in my direction along river. (I'm not close to river, it's at a distance on my right.) I'm wondering about my briefcase (soft, zip, kind of pale) because it has my money in it. (possibly 3 dollars, which is true - this is how much money I had at the time of the dream) and decide to wait until man gets to me, in hope that before we go down the river (the direction we're planning on going) we can go back to the hotle reception room, where I left it.

5- Next I'm back at the hotel reception room (possibly now is when I hear the conversation about prices) I somehow forget (have forgotten) errand. Now I'm alone, but then worry (possibly about what have I 'forgotten') and then the briefcase is pointed out to me, hanging on a door.

6- I am in an open room 12' high and big, like a warehouse. I am leaping to within a foot of the ceiling, casually grasping my ankles at the ceiling level, with my back to the floor and landing easily on my feet. Then in same room, I'm hanging from, by my hands, legs, whitish, slightly shriveled, long post of wood (like driftwood, bleached) roughly paralell the wood post to the floor. someone tells me to get off, it's old and fragile (valuable or rare implied). And I get down and notice that the post thing is something roughly comparable to a bowsprit and the whole ship is of same material as the post. The ship is of strange design (not to me then while I dreaming) Sort of thinness to it, feels Egyptian (to me now, awake).  And then I notice the whole huge area (I can't see any walls) has objects of same material throughout it. Not crowded, there is plenty of space between things. I can't remember what any other of the objects looked like, but that they were all at least slightly strange, not to me then, where as I didn't pay much attention to them because or their familiarity.

(1/10/13) Funny, I remember that last dream in the big room a little differently and thought I had dreamt it with a different dream!
